Singapore Trip - Photo Gallery III -Gardens By The Bay - Cloud Forest

Here are photos of the Cloud Forest visited by us. It is a huge area enclosed in glass with controlled temperature and humidity to enable these exotic plants to thrive and grow.

I was particularly attracted by the pitcher plants ( 4, 43, 48 and 49 ) which belong to the family of carnivorous plants. The 'pitchers' are designed to trap insects and even small rodents which move in the area; the pitchers have sticky substances to which the insects get stuck. The plants 'digest' these insects to derive nitrogen required for their growth. The sight took me back in time-machine to my High School days where in General Science, i had read about the carnivorous plants and had only seen their pictures in books.

Singapore Trip - Photo Gallery II - The Duck Tour

Daughter II packed our Singapore trip with sight-seeing and other programmes. So there was no idle time and no time to get bored and yawn, although spending time with her and her family was rewarding enough.

We had a view of the mesmerising landmarks of the City-State of Singapore. Here are photos of a tour in an amphibian vehicle that operated on land as also on water.

So, no yawning is allowed!
